Bread is one of life's most common staple foods that is present at almost every meal. Man can live a long time only on bread and water. The Bible declares when the Jews wandered 40 years in the wilderness, God rained down bread from heaven to sustain the nation (Exodus 16:4). Regardless of social class or culture, poor and rich alike need bread.
Bethlehem is known as the "House of Bread." The Bible says the birthplace of, "Him whose goings forth have been of old" (Matthew 2:6), would occur as foretold by Micah, the OT prophet in Bethlehem at the birth of Jesus (Micah 5:2). Furthermore, Jesus said, "I am the Bread of Life; whoever comes to me shall never hunger and whoever believes in me shall never thirst" (John 6:35).
Our desire at the House of Bread is to introduce the "Living Bread" to everyone who attends any of our worship or outreach services. Our Bread Ministry serves bread and other staples to many in the community on a weekly basis, while the spiritual feedings at the Sunday Worship services revive the downtrodden in spirit. There is fresh bread served weekly at Greater Bethlehem Christian Assembly. We extend the invitation to you to be our guest and break bread with us. If you are hungry, come to the House of Bread. We are saving a seat for you at the table.
Some people say, "I don't go to church because all they want is my money."
We want you to know that while it takes money to minister to the needs of the people and operate the church, we are looking for people who want to grow in their relationship and knowledge of the Lord. Our emphasis is to help you attain your eternal destiny in the Kingdom of God by hearing and doing what the word of God declares. We promise not to use any under-handed tactic to force anyone to part with their money because God loves a cheerful giver. Our desire is to teach you to receive the blessing.
Other people say, "I am not looking to stay in church all day."
We value your time and promise to be mindful of the fact that you have a life and other commitments outside of the church. Our services are designed to be filled with an exciting empowering word that will strengthen and encourage you on a daily basis. We resolve to teach the word in such a way that everyone receives it in a timely manner. One hour services exist, but we also know that growth comes through fellowship with other believers, and for some that takes time.
Some other people say, "I am looking for a church that can help me grow."
One of our goals at GBCA is to "teach you the word, so you may teach others." Our Wednesday Night Bible Study challenges attendees to ask questions and engage in a dialogue that will help others to grow. Our emphasis is not to teach from the Wall Street Journal or TV or what someone said. We teach the scriptures in a clear, concise format so everyone may learn. Cliches, common sayings or old wives tales have no place being taught as truth in the pulpit. We strive to challenge believers to search the scriptures for themselves to see if what they heard is biblical sound doctrine. We are invested in your growth.
Finally, others may say, "You don't need to go to church to have a relationship with God."
I agree that you should have a relationship with God outside of the church. But I believe that the Bible is clear when it says, "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching" (Hebrews 10:25). We enter church to learn and depart to serve. "As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend" (Proverbs 27:17). In other words, by building relationships with others of like faith we grow spiritually and emotionally. We have real conversations that help us grow through a live corporate relationship with God and other believers.
We promise to respect and treat you with love, concern and dignity. Our desire is to be godly examples of Christ and let our light shine in a world of darkness. We endeavor to help you grow and seek God for fellowship through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, in the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit. We are intentional in ministry, service and outreach as we accomplish the Great Commission. Our desire is to hear God say, "Well done."
